Dear Parents and Guardians,
The ERV Calendar continues to offer our students exciting and interesting opportunities that included Languages Day, Wednesday 26th September and Creativity Week starting on Monday 15th October. This Half Term will come to a close with a Free Dress Day on Friday 19th October on the theme of ‘Colours’.
On Friday 21st September we waved goodbye to Dan Thompson, Run the World, who has undertaken to run 10 km in every country in the world, a total of 206 countries, by the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. Before setting out on the Gabon Run of this challenge, he spoke with ERV students about the benefits of sport and physical activity for keeping healthy.
We are also proud to announce that ERV will again be participating in Model United Nations (MUN), a debating platform in which students foster their leadership abilities, develop their critical thinking and improve their debating and negotiating skills. We are currently selecting student representatives of ERV for a forthcoming MUN Conference to be held in New York in January 2019, as well as making arrangements for our own ERV MUN conference later in the academic year.
We will also be introducing an After School Club for younger children whose parents cannot collect them directly after school, giving parents until 4:30pm to pick them up. If it’s of interest to you, look out for the form being sent out soon, as you will need to sign up and pay a small fee for this additional service.
Our ECA (extra curricular activities) program commenced last week and we encourage all students to participate in the activities that take place after school as part of their wider education. The new and exciting programme for this term has commenced for students who have embraced the broad range of activities now available to them with enthusiasm. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any enquiries regarding the ECA programme or your child’s options.
For those of you that are interested in participating in Marathon du Gabon, training sessions started on Saturday 22nd September in school. Children, parents as well as ERV staff will be meeting each week on Saturday mornings over the forthcoming weeks, should you wish to join us.
The school has also increased the musical offer with our Instrumental Music Programme for students wishing to learn an instrument. It’s also good to hear the ERV School Choir thriving! Please contact our Music Coordinator, Mrs Ancic, firstname.lastname@example.org for further information.
We would also like to invite all parents whose children are new to ERV, to our ‘New Parent Coffee Morning’ which will take place next week. This will be an opportunity to meet other new parents and the ERV team, and ask any questions you may have about the school. Do look out for the invitations which will be given to your children.
We look forward to seeing all parents back in school soon for the first Parents’ Evening of the academic year which will take place on Tuesday 30th October at 5pm. Please place this important date in your Diary.
I would like to thank those parents who contributed to the review of our vision and mission statements, and the principles we strive to achieve of ‘Excellence, Respect, Virtue’. We will be hosting another evening to share the outcomes of the exercise in the second half of this term. Thank you also to those parents who joined us at the Meet n Greet evening, just a few weeks ago.
We thank you once again for your valuable support to ERV, and look forward to working with you for another successful year ahead for all of our students.
