As another busy week draws to a close we have a number of things to celebrate.
We welcomed Mrs Asifa Hashim from the UK to join our staff to teach Science. She comes with a wide range of experience in teaching separate sciences (and also social sciences) to a high level. She will be a great asset to ERV. I am sure you will make her feel at home very quickly.
We held two workshops – one for PYP, and the other for Montessori – to enable you to better support your child with school- as well as home-work.
‘Thank you’ to those who came for your positive feedback. If, however, you missed the workshops, do not worry as there will be further opportunities to find out what UOI and POI mean among other things!
Further to our desire to introduce our children to their host or native country, we have invited a group called “Valeurs Traditionnelles” to present the culture, history, myths and legends of Gabon in the form of a series of 2 hour workshops as a special ECA on Saturday between 10h et 12 noon. These will include traditional dance and songs and pupils will also be able to make their own traditional costume and even learn a traditional instrument. This all starts tomorrow in the small studio in the gymnasium.
On a more serious note, I reminded pupils about respecting their own and each other’s property and about modelling ERV values wherever they go. Please help reinforce the importance of honesty and integrity at home alongside the expectations of neat work that is complete and of good quality from all students, whether they are scholars or not.
I wish you a relaxing weekend as the rains slowly turn our campus green again!
